Brigadier General Ronald Cheape of Tiroran leading the Pennyghael Pipe Band round the field at the Tiroran Games, held in the triangular field near Kilfinichen Church. The General, a fine and enthusiastic piper, established the Pennyghael Pipe Band during the inter-war years, and was the moving spirit behind it, encouraging both young and old to improve their technique ; he would arrange for Pipe Major Willie Ross to visit and tutor the band once a year.

There were fine musicians among the members of the band. Apart from the General, members included Duncan Lamont and his brother Hugh, Charlie Weir, Hugh MacCallum, Alan MacPhail, Neillie MacLean, Sandy McPhee, Ronald Livingstone, young Hector MacFadyen and Willie Gordon.
